Why address "Attitude" in an economic downturn?

The truth is Attitude, in this time of economic uncertainty, is far more important than ever. It's the attitude of your people, when they speak with customers, which will make you a winner in a “down” economy while keeping your people's perspective in check when they hear the media say the sky is falling.

Attitude is perspective. Change the perspective and you change the results. Once you change someone's perspective, once you change how they see problems, you change results. Companies around the world are still succeeding in spite of the "economic downturn." Want to know their secrets? Companies become successful when they don't allow excuses, reasons or justifiers to stand in their way. That's "Attitude."

Leadership is an Attitude. Service is an Attitude. Safety is an Attitude. Success is an Attitude. Winning is an Attitude. Perspective is an Attitude. None of it is measurable or tangible. But you won't find a single successful organization without it.

The author of seven books on “attitude” and an internationally sought-after speaker, Kevin Burns is the founder of Burns Attitude Systems & Education (BASE). He works with companies and organizations throughout North America to help them achieve better performance and improved attitude - with no more reasons, excuses or justifiers for not being better than everyone else.

Why address "Performance" in an economic downturn?

Fear plays a huge part in the mindset of individuals and organizations and that affects performance. While the media spews doom and gloom for supper, what message are your people reacting to? They have a choice: to accept the message from the doom-and-gloomers or to self-inspire.

If your people aren’t actively choosing to inspire themselves, then they are, by default, relying on someone or something else to motivate them. That is a recipe for disaster in any organizational setting especially today. Inspired people inspire others. Teams of inspired individuals inspire the organization. Inspired organizations rise above their competitors and customers are willingly drawn to those organizations.

Ken Larson has been coaching people for over 20 years. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Performance as well as a Masters Degree in Performance Psychology.  He is an international speaker, corporate trainer, team facilitator, human performance consultant, and Certified Executive Coach.
